The Vicar of Dibley

Series Summary

Inspired by the Church of England's 1994 decision to permit the ordination of women, The Vicar of Dibley is a warmhearted sitcom about a small town's upheaval in the wake of being assigned a woman vicar. Dawn French played the mischievous, liberal Geraldine Granger, chocolate addict and hardworking pastor. Her main foil is the ultra-conservative pillar of the community David Horton (Gary Waldhorn). French often consulted with a real-life female vicar, giving her performance an authentic feel.
