All in the Family

Series Summary

The family sitcom All in the Family was a groundbreaking show that broached controversial subjects that were previously untouched by any other television series. Based on the British sitcom Till Death Do Us Part, All in the Family featured the comedic talents of Carol O'Connor, who played the bigoted, stubborn, and unforgettable Archie Bunker. Archie is married to the dense but sweet Edith, and they live in their house in Queens with their daughter Gloria and her long-haired liberal husband Michael, whom Archie nicknames Meathead. All in the Family spawned five spin-offs, including Maude and The Jeffersons.

Customer Reviews

Archie Bunker's Place followed Norman Lear's long-running hit sitcom All in the Family with a largely new cast of characters surrounding Carroll O'Connor's beloved bigot from Queens, Archie Bunker. Jean Stapleton, reprising her role as Archie's wife, Edith, occasionally appeared in the new show for continuity's sake, but was gone by the second season. Seen much more often was young Danielle Brisebois as Archie's feisty niece, Stephanie, who moved into the Bunker home toward the end of All in the Family's duration.
